Johnstown, NY Johnstown, NY Part-time Part-time $15 - $16 an hour $15 - $16 an hour 22 hours ago 22 hours ago 22 hours ago Family Advocate - 20 to 25 hours per week (will occasionally require on call work) to provide support to families that includes coordinating and connecting to services needed for the child and family, participating in the multi-disciplinary team meetings of the Regional Child Advocacy Center, and provide community outreach and education on child abuse prevention.
AAS Degree in Human Service field and experience in advocacy work preferred.
HS Diploma and clean NYS Driver's License required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following:
1.
Maintain strict standards of confidentiality.
2.
Make initial contact with the family at the first scheduled interview to answer any preliminary questions they may have, and also assist them in completing the initial National Children's Alliance Outcome Measurement System survey (OMS).
3.
Assist the family in accessing services they feel will be beneficial to the child's family.
4.
Maintain contact with the victim and family throughout the investigation and prosecution process when requested by MDT members.
5.
Have the family complete the OMS system follow up survey.
6.
Attend monthly MDT meetings (CAIT) to update MDT members on the family's progress.
7.
Receive case information forms and police reports on all child sex / physical abuse from law enforcement and Child Protective Services and enter into the Collaborate database.
8.
Assist with community outreach and education training on child abuse prevention.
9.
Assist with fundraising activities.
10.
Adhere to the Mandated Reporter policy and law regarding child abuse and neglect; follows all the state rules and reporting requirements, and reports any such information to the CAC Coordinator immediately.
11.
Utilize the CAC Coordinator as a consultant when circumstances/situations arise and require further assistance.
12.
Complete and submit weekly schedule in a timely manner.

13.
Participate in the assigned on-call rotation for acute medical exams and the corresponding forensic interviews.
14.
Ensure that electronic time clock entries are complete; if not, the necessary documentation is complete, i.

15.
Participate in agency events.
16.
Attend trainings relevant to enhancement of skills for position.
17.
Other duties as assigned.
